We are running a race. To insure that we do not run in vain, but that we each run our race in such a way as to win, we need to run it by following in Yeshua's footsteps (1 Cor 9:24-27; Phil 2:16). We do that by being sure that we only say and do that which the Ruach tells and shows us (John 5:19, 1 John 1:6-7). The following poem outlines the situation we are all in:
THE RACE AT SUNRISE
Every Morning in Africa,
a gazelle wakes up. It knows that it must run
faster than the fastest lion,
or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle,
or it will starve to death.
It doesn't matter whether you are a lion
or a gazelle; when the sun comes up,
you had better be running.
[Of course we want to be running as the Ruach leads.]

A brother-at-arms of mine, Richard Grund, sent me this poem together with his comments:
This poem is so much more profound then the writer may have realized. As I read it this morning these thoughts flowed into my spirit and I wanted to share them with you.
We were born into a world at war. There's no two ways about it. We were born into a world where terrorists led by the greatest terrorist of all time will not stop trying to steal from us, kill us or destroy everything we hold dear. That's what they do. That's what they exist for. They fear nothing and no one. The mock Almighty God and have challenged His Son. What makes you think they will do any less to you?!
The King left us an order - occupy. He defeated all the powers of darkness by His Blood and His love for us. He gave it all - blood, sweat, tears and His very life. It took all that He had to win, and He gave it. He told us to take back what was stolen and to rescue the lost and dying. He warned us that a 1000 might fall at our side and 10,000 at our right hand but He assured us it would not come near us. Then, He gave a commission for war and told us to stand. He didn't say that His armies would fight for us. He said they would fight WITH us. He said do not put your trust in man or the power of earthly might. We, His children, were expected to rule and reign in His place.
He never said it would be easy nor did He give us assurances that we would not suffer. Instead, He gave us His Holy Spirit to encourage us and lead us. He told us to do this until He returned and to never quit. Yet, as we stand here today it would appear that His orders have been countermanded by a Religious Spirit and the armies have beaten their swords into plowshares while the battle rages. These false leaders have told the lamb to lay down with the lion before the Final Redemption. And, lambs are being devoured. Their pain of betrayal and cries for mercy scream in the spirit. Misguided parents and pastors have allowed their little lambs to run out of the pen into the dark forest filled with wolves. The King's example was to leave the 99 for the 1. Their example is to stay safe behind their walls and to blame the little lambs for running. In a time of war, this is called treason for aiding and abetting the enemy!
We can either be victorious or be victimized. It's your choice as to what the outcome is. Will you be a victim or will you be a victor? You choose. As for me and my house, we will obey the King, we will fight for His flock and we will stand against all the power of the enemy. We will bring Light for the darkness of man and take up the Sword of the Spirit and fight. Our hearts will not fail us and our feet will not grow weary. We will not faint. We will rise up with wings as eagles and fly.
Let us not forget, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him” (Heb 11:6).
Be blessed and encouraged,
Angus
