Don't Shoot Yourself in the Foot!

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

Sympathy for Israel's position has been growing, and you are gaining respectability for the forthright manner in which you are dealing with Palestinian terrorism. Unfortunately, rather then continue actions which are working in Israel's, and your favor, you decide to "tee the world off" and endorse a proposed law that allows Jews to bar Arab citizens of Israel from living or purchasing homes in many Israeli communities.

You are shooting yourself in the foot, if not in the head!

The anti Semites are rejoicing with glee! For two thousand years they have put Jews in ghettos, or excluded them from cities and even countries. Now you are going to follow them, and obviously endorse their concept, by building your own ghettos.

Hopefully, you have alerted the Jews around the world, and especially the few left in Moslem countries, to the upcoming wave of antisemitism that they can expect if this proposal becomes law.

You do have one gigantic challenge in enforcing this proposed law, and that is coming up with a definition of "Who is a Jew." One who can be considered a full-fledge citizen of Israel. The challenge is that the definition must be acceptable to the Holy One of Israel. The G-d who has promised to regather the scatter seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the aliens who stay in your midst back to the land of Israel (Ezekiel 47:22).

The Holy One will keep His Word and the full remnant of Israel will return to their own soil (Jeremiah 23:1-8), Mr. Prime Minister, the rabbis do not believe, and I know that you do not believe, that all whom the Holy One will regather are today identifiable as Jews. Therefore, you cannot be supportive of an unbiblical law that would undoubtedly be based on Talmudic understanding that Jewish descent is only from the mother?

We encourage you to immediately withdraw your support for this proposed law which will not only touch off a divisive national debate in Israel, but a worldwide debate, which will only erode support for Israel and fan the flames of antisemitism.

We pray that you are guided by the Holy One in all your decisions, and thereby bring His blessings on all Israel—those that are near and those that are far away.
