*A Sad Day, But What About Tomorrow? Print E-mail

Today is truly a sad day. In the past we have watched the IDF (Israel’s Defense Forces), conquer their enemies in armed conflict. Yet today we are watching them drag their own countrymen, defenseless protesting settlers, from their homes and synagogues in the Gaza. Even sadder is the fact that I, and my fellow Messianic Believers, were forced by our own failures to sit by and watch this event, We have been little more than impotent spectators watching a travesty unfolded. For we, like our brother Judah, do not have sufficient numbers to favorably affect the threatening situation now before us.

What might this day have looked like had the Messianic Israel Alliance been twenty, forty, sixty, even a hundred times larger?

Once upon a time it took the mighty armies of Babylon or Rome to take land from the people of Israel. Times have changed. In our generation, a combination of suicide bombers, the Arab womb, and the intimidation of the secular world, can bring about our defeat.

Yesterday it was the Sinai, today the Gaza, but what about tomorrow? What about a tomorrow which sees the West Bank settlements occupied by people who serve another god? Or, a tomorrow when Jerusalem falls? Or, a final tomorrow, when the so-called peace process is completed?

The people of Israel have not, and it seems will not learn the lessons of history. So they are doomed, generation after generation, to repeat their past mistakes. When the tribes of Israel were united under King David they won wars and conquered lands. It was only after the division of Israel into two houses that they could not stand. Only then did they begin to lose wars and land.

Two thousand-years ago the Apostle James told us that the solution to our dilemma was the restoration of David’s fallen kingdom (Acts 15:15-18). The question is, who will the Holy One of Israel use to reunite Israel and restore its Kingdom? Might He in some manner use us?

One thing I do know. Spectators will not get the job done. Nor will those who do not wisely utilize their talents and resources be her benefactor.

The hope of Christendom, and even a large portion of Messianic Israel, is that our God (Yahveh) will personally accomplish the work required to return His redeemed to the Land. If so, everyone can sit in the stands and watch. They can be like spectators when it comes to the events concerning the regathering and return of all Israel to their own soil.

The problem is that so far, this plan has not worked. Waiting for Yahveh has not gotten the job done. Maybe Yahveh is waiting on us. After all, throughout history He has accomplished His works through men and women.

I am heartened that the Messianic Israel Alliance has as its mission the “restoration of all things.” As Scott Diffenderfer, MIA Shepherd and Administrator, observed, “we are the first group of people since King David to see our purpose as the reuniting of the divided house of Israel, and the reestablishment of the Davidic Kingdom.”

What will it take to accomplish this colossal mission? Numbers! We need numbers, more numbers, and even more numbers, maybe as many as six-hundred-million if you are going to get the job done. After all, you cannot fill a land until there is no more room unless you have a lot of numbers (Zechariah 10:10). The cover article in Newsweek Magazine a few years ago underscored this need for numbers. The article concluded that, by the year 2050 there would not be a Jewish state. Not because they were defeated in armed conflict, but rather because they had been overwhelmed by the Arab womb. The Arab birth rate in Gaza today is 51 per thousand, and in Israel it is 8 per thousand.

So, what about tomorrow, when the settlers are dragged from the West Bank settlements? Will we once again be sitting as impotent spectators in the stands, or will we be out on the field as participants making a difference

What can we do?

Understand that our enemy has shown more dedication, provided more people, and committed more resources to winning the war than we have at least thus far. To turn the tide in this battle, we must more than match their dedication and resources. Most of all, we need greater numbers, more Israelites. As I said earlier, perhaps as many as 600 hundred million. Interestingly, this number would be a tithe of the earth’s present population, and there are some two billion Christians sitting in the stands—acting as onlookers to the events that are unfolding concerning Israel.

Our challenge is, how do we get sufficient numbers out of this group of spectators to help us win the numbers battle? These people are behaving as spectators in that they are waiting either for the rapture, an antichrist, or for our God to accomplish everything needed to fulfill His endtime prophecies. To meet our challenge, we must convince them that they are players and not spectators. To accomplish this, we need to help them understand their true heritage and purpose. They need to realize that they are part of the people of Israel, and that their earthly purpose is to help restore the Kingdom to Israel. They are, for the most part Ephraim, the other house of Israel, those who were scattered in every nation, tribe, tongue, and kindred. But now, at the end of the age, Ephraim is being restored. And they will, as the redeemed of Yahveh, not only return to their land, but will return as mighty men (Zechariah 10:7).

How do we even attempt to accomplish this seemly impossible task?

We need to become a Joshua and Caleb people. We need mighty prayer warriors who are led by the Ruach haKodesh. In the recent Bulletin, You Need to be Aware, I discussed ways in which we might accomplish these goals. I ask that you not only read this Bulletin, but that you act on it. Also, if you have other effective ways that will help get spectators out of the stands and onto the field of battle, please share them.

Rather than being spectators who are lacking in power and ability let us truly become Israel, a powerful prevailing prince, one who rules with the almighty.
