Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, the third largest governmental hospital in Israel, is responsible for the comprehensive medical treatment of over 500,000 people – Jews, Christians and Moslems – who live in the central part of Israel. In its capacity serving the military, the Medical Center also treats over 18,000 soldiers annually. Geographically the catchments area has the fastest growing population in Israel. Over 60,000 new immigrant families have built their homes within this region in the last few years.

Assaf Harofeh is one of the hospitals selected to treat military and defense personnel; always ready during times of war and peace. Upwards of 18,000 soldiers receive comprehensive medical treatment year round, both as in-patients and out-patients. During emergencies, army helicopters fly the wounded directly to the hospital, cared for en route by doctors and paramedics who have been specially trained. It is the unique combination of the physician skills and their caring approach which spurs the healing process of the young men and women who defend Israel.

The Medical Center is currently raising funds to build a much needed TRAUMA CENTER for the treatment of a broad range of emergencies. This new center will greatly increase AHMC’s ability to provide desperately needed life saving services to seriously injured victims of accidents, paramilitary incidents or terrorist attacks.
