About The Torah Portions:
Traditional Judaism follows a yearly Torah and Haftarah reading cycle in which the Torah (the First Five Books of Scripture) is divided into weekly portions that have an accompanying excerpt from one of the Prophetic books that relates to the theme being presented.
As Believers in Messiah Yeshua, we also include portions from the New Testament, so that we will be reading form the whole counsel of our Father's Holy Word.
Each of these portions contain several chapters. Since each parashah contains untold numbers of nuggets of truth, it is impossible for any one person to present all of the truths in one weekly volume. As we go through the annual cycle, we find new, encouraging, and inspiring bits of truth. Each commentator brings different aspects to light, and we encourage open discussion on biblical passages, and thus the views expressed are those of the author and not necessarily those of the Messianic Israel Alliance or its members and affiliates.

A New Look and a Reaffirmation
by Angus and Batya Wootten
Our Herald Newsletter has a new look and a new banner statement: "The Voice of Redeemed Israel"!
In this new issue of the Herald, we want to lift our voices in reaffirmation of truths that we have been declaring for decades! First, we reaffirm the truth that, the God of Israel loves both Houses of Israel, He loves both Ephraim and Judah and all of their companions! And, He says that, in last days, He will make the two sticks of Joseph/Ephraim and Judah, one stick in His holy hand! (Ezekiel 37:15-28).
Truly, we live in exciting times!
We have been publishing materials about the restoration of the whole house of Israel since our first House of David Herald Newsletter in 1982: "Is the Church the People of Ephraim?" (The MIA was formed in 1999, under
the auspices of its non-profit parent, House of David, Inc., which we formed in 1982.) To say the least, that early Herald Newsletter, and our many newsletters and books that followed after it, caused a stir. For untold
thousands, seeing the truth about all Israel led to a life-changing paradigm shift. It changed everything. Seeing the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of Israel, and their last days restoration, changes how you see all of
Scripture. Even as foretold in the Word, the veil is lifted and Believers begin to see and understand their true role in the Body of Messiah (Genesis 48:19; Roman 11:25). It is indeed, an exciting role that is full of promise.
We need to reaffirm another point. Unfortunately, some have seen both of Israel's houses in Scripture, but continue to "stumble" over the Sanctuary sent to restore them. They miss a key point concerning His true identity. Isaiah said, "It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, and He shall be your dread. Then He shall become a sanctuary; but to both the houses of Israel, a stone to strike and a rock to stumble over, and a snare and a trap for the inhabitants of Jerusalem" (Isaiah 8:13-14).
YHVH Tsa va'ot, the LORD of Hosts, was to one day become a "Sanctuary." And, one day, Messiah Yeshua overturned the tables of some profiteers who were selling things in the Temple. Angered by His actions, the leadership asked Him, "What sign do You show us as your authority for doing these things?" Yeshua's answer was, "'Destroy this temple [sanctuary], and in three days I will raise it up.' The Jews then asked, 'It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?' But He was speaking of the temple of His body. So when He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He said this; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Yeshua had spoken" (John 2:19-22, italics added). It says that the disciples "believed the Scripture." What Scripture did they believe? Click here to continue |
